SNOW-DRAPED

Snow-draped branches,
White and grey,
Turn a grey day
Into spirits gay.
Before the storm
It was a grey day.
The snow today
Renews the old meaning
Of what it is to be gay.
Such a simple divine gift
Does our spirits lift.
No miracle here.
The only need: to be aware.
Snow-laden sumac cones,
White on red,
Now, that is gay.
