First Snowfall

How beautiful is the night,
All clothed in white
With the new-fallen snow
To set my heart aglow
With thoughts of gladness
After tears of sadness
From thoughts of abortions
Of God's beautiful creations.

Sounds Of Autumn

Sounds of Autumn

Crow calls
And cricket trills
Blend
With the clatter of aspen leaves fluttering,
And the constant rush of faraway rapids,
Perennial sounds of the perennial forces,
Asking me to witness,
In a moment of eternity,
To God’s glorious creativity.

Snow Laden

Snow Laden

The snow-laden trees
Lighten the grey, winter forest
As God's grace
Lightens the greyness of my wintery soul.

SNOW-DRAPED

Snow-draped branches,
White and grey,
Turn a grey day
Into spirits gay.
Before the storm
It was a grey day.
The snow today
Renews the old meaning
Of what it is to be gay.
Such a simple divine gift
Does our spirits lift.
No miracle here.
The only need: to be aware.
Snow-laden sumac cones,
White on red,
Now, that is gay.

Simply Missing You

Missing you
Makes me blue.
I think of you.
It’s all I do.
Where are you
When I need you?
Loving you
Makes me blue
‘Cause all I do
Is “think of you.”
All day through
I think of you
And all day through
I’m missing you.
Thinking of you
Is all I do.

The Lifer And The Visit

I know I done bad.

I know I done wrong.

That's why I'm here.

I know I deserve

To be locked here real long.

I am so sad.

Could you have a little pity

On this boy who's been bad?

Could you find it in your heart

To visit my pad?

The awful despair

Is so hard to bear.

I know I done wrong,

And I know that it's fair

That I'm locked up in here,

But have mercy on me.

I can endure most unhappiness

Except the despair of long loneliness.

Yes I know I done bad;

I know I done wrong.

Please visit my pad

Before I'm long gone.

The Wind

Seagulls soar;
Waves roar;
Onto shore.
Seagulls play;
Waves say
"Good Day"!

Honey-suckle

The honey-suckle meadow's
Soft, sweet scent
Wafts to me
On the warm, spring wind;
Filling my nose,
Filling my lungs,
Filling my brain;
Intoxicating me;
Thanking Thee.

SILENCE

The crunch of crusty snow

Beneath my feet,

Deep in the forest,

Like the clack of shoes,

On the stone floor,

In a cavernous church,

Stops me in my tracks,

To start me hearing the deep silence,

Deep in my soul.

Signs Of Spring

Birds chirping in chorus:

A first sound of spring.

The rot of melting dog poop:

A first smell of spring.

The snow-melt running in the street:

A first sight of spring.

The warmth of the sun on my face:

A first feeling of spring.

The taste of maple syrup:

A first taste of spring.

My awareness of all these things:

A First sense of God each spring.

Shore Breeze At Britannia Bay

Just as
The rosy and grey
Little sunset waves,
Responding to the undulating breeze,
Bubble and burble and gurgle
On the grey and rocky shore,
In a more
Sluggish rhythm
Than the faster rushing clatter
Of the poplar leaves:
So we humans each respond
At different rates
To the distant
Divine call.

SHADOWS DANCE

Shadows dance on the forest floor
To the tune of the rustling leaves,
Responding to the gentle breeze,
Caressing softly, softly me.
Crickets sing
And rapids roar;
Harmonious gifts
From my Deity.

SELKIRK mountain rainbow

SELKIRK mountain rainbow

1
Reaching, reaching
Into blackness
To find the rainbow
Colours of his first
Love,
Finding only more pain
2
As he reaches
For his love
Of his first love,
Unrequited,
Cold heart,
Stone breasts,
Longing for softness,
3
Sweet milk
Satisfying,
But finding
Only a black hole
Taking
His soul,
Crying profusely
Round crystals
Reflecting
4
The longing
Found in truth,
Unlike betrayal,
Found lies,
Found in
Selfish manipulation
Of his
Puppet soul.

ROME TO NICE, BY TRAIN

I love the sky;

It makes me high!

It’s such a clear, bright blue;

There’s no clearer hue.

The mountain’s profile

Makes me smile

As it cuts its line

Above this railway line.

The round, green and red coastal bluffs

Against the Alps, so white and rough,

Give a texture never boring,

Contrasting man’s poor city offering.

Rocky Mountain Girl, she rides that train;

She sees the beauty, the joys and the pain.

Rocky Mountain Girl, she rides that train;

Through sun and moon and snow and rain.

Rocky Mountain Girl, she rides that train;

From all her smiles, her clients gain.

Rocky Mountain Girl, she rides that train;

Wondering when she'll be home again.

Quest

Quest

When sleep won’t come,

But thoughts do come,

Then go and meet the night

With precious words you write.

As you let the spirit flow,

So your creation grows

To educate the nations

Of yearning populations

Who are so in need of healing

Of their mental infestations.

Psalm #2

psalm #2

I love you above all others, Lord.
In You is my salvation.
You are good.
You are strong.
You are my strength.
You dwell in me.
King of my mind and soul,
With thanks I praise your name;
Comforter, Counsellor, Jesus,
You banish all my shame.
Great and good!
Great and good!
Holy is your name.
I love you above all others,
For without you, I would live in shame.
There is a Father above
With a tender love,
And Jesus is His glorious name.

PSALM # 1

Sweet Jesus, gentle Jesus!
Holy be your name.
I praise you for your love.
I praise you for your patience.
I praise you for your healing.
You know my pain for you were there.
Sweet Jesus, gentle Jesus,

Thanks for the pain which you bear.
Our prayers, I know You hear.
You drive away all fear,
When in our mouths is praise for you, Sweet
Jesus dear.
Our salvation’s in You, Jesus.
You suffered, died and rose, sweet Jesus,
So that, in heaven, with you we’ll dwell.
Holy be Your name, sweet and gentle Jesus;
Sweet, sweet Jesus. Holy be Your name.

Precious Pearl

My precious, precious pearl,

I have found you.

I have searched within the muck

Amongst those with whom I’d have no truck.

As your shell opened,

There you were,

So beautiful and rare,

Glowing a bright, light radiance

Of caring and truth and fairness;

Your gentle consideration

Beaming your inspiration;

A beacon of decency

Flowering amongst the decadence;

Hope amongst the despair

That fills the filthy air.

Oh sweet and precious pearl,

Please stay within my world.

Please stay within God’s loving word.
