FOGGY MORNING
The ducks disappeared in the morning fog,
With a rush of fluttering wings,
Disturbed, not by me,
But by the raw energy of Sammy.
They had been so peaceful until he came,
Resting near shore,
Feeding in the shallows,
But now responding
To their fear for their safety,
Taking flight in panic,
Gathering together in their flocks,
Consoling in solidarity,
To, once again, take comfort
In the rich, moist, earth and water smells,
Found only in the blanket of a foggy morning.

Firefly night at britannia bay,
On the edge of the pier,
Standing on the shore of the river,
Looking into the calm darkness,
Feeling the almost imperceptible breeze
On my skin,
Close and immediate,
Feeling the thick, warm, moist, foggy air,
Hearing the singing of the crickets,
Hearing the honking of the geese,
Hearing the quacking of the ducks,
Seeing the grey mist,
Seeing the dark, flat shore,
Seeing the flashing fireflies,
Seeing them move in the calm stillness,
Feeling the calming of my anxieties;
Feeling these soothing gifts of my deity.

Fine
I’m fine!
And how are you?
Oh! I’m fine, fine,
Oh! just fine!
I smile all the time,
So I’m real fine.
I’m half paralysed
But I feel just fine,
And my work is paradise
‘Cause I love to analyze.
Oh! It’s fine, fine,
Oh! just fine.
I’ve taken sick leave time
But I’m just fine.
The union that’s been formed?
Well, that’s just fine.
I’m in favour of reform.
Oh! they’ll create a little storm
But I’ll weather it fine.
No, I can’t crack a smile,
But I can run a mile,
So I’m just fine.
And, another week of sick leave,
Well it makes my chest heave.
Oh! I’ll have a little wine
And soon I’ll be fine.
Yes, my mate just left me
But that don’t hurt me.
It had to be
So I agreed.
So,I smile all the time
And everything is fine.
I don’t worry;
I’ll just be happy,
And it’ll work out fine.
I know I slashed my wrists
But please don’t insist.
Oh! I don’t want to die,
And you know I never lie.
Oh! I’m fine, fine, Oh! just fine.
I smile all the time
So I’m real fine.
I’m being evicted,
But, that was expected.
I don’t know where I’ll go,
And anyway, this shack’s too old.
I feel real secure
While I shovel this manure.
Yes, I’m fine, fine!
Really, really, fine!
Oh, just fine!

Fifty Bullets
Fifty bullets in an unarmed man!
Crazy cops don't give a damn.
His bride waits forever for her man.
The judge let the bridegroom's justice down.
"Just an accident." The cops put down.
"We thought that a gun was surely drawn."
Fifty bullets in an unarmed man!
I really don't think that they gave a damn!
